Learn how to achieve quality mat cutting results by overcoming common problems like over cuts and under cuts. Find out what’s behind wavy bevels and how to stop them. Eliminate patchy cutting through. In addition, learn the professional technique for cutting foolproof double mats and how to accurately size down full size sheets of mat board, foam board and even glass. Hands-on instructions. Workshop 2 - The Picture Framing Process
Saturday, 1:00p.m. - 4:30p.m.
An overview of the Picture Framing process from start to finish. Learn how to make your own frames, how to cut mats, how to mount artwork , how to attach a paper dust cover, how to clean glass and how to hold the contents in a frame. Unlock the secrets of professional framers in a wide variety of areas and overcome common errors. Hands-on instruction. All materials provided.
Workshop 3 - Intermediate Mat Cutting
Sunday, 9:00a.m. - 2:30p.m.
Expand your mat cutting skills. Learn how to cut V-Groove mats, multiple-opening mats, stepped-corner mats, and oval and circle mats. Explore how to purchase mat board to minimize your costs. Also, learn how to combine matting techniques for a wide range of creative possibilities and learn how matting can buttress your bottom line. Hands-on instruction. All materials provided.
Workshop 4 - How to Start a Picture Framing Business
Sunday, 3:00p.m. - 5:00p.m.
An orderly and constructive approach to starting a picture framing business. Learn how to price for picture framing; avoid the pitfalls that sink many frame shops; analyze the costs and expenses of a typical frame shop; understand the advantages of starting out from home; analyze where the money goes and discover how to stay liquid and competitive.
