How to Save up to 75% by Framing For Yourself

The way to think about saving money when doing your own picture framing is to determine the cost of the equipment and materials necessary to frame an average size piece; then compare it against the cost of having the same piece framed by someone else.  This is a relatively simple task given the introduction of the Frame Shop in a Box, our complete assortment of equipment and materials at a reduced price.

The equipment included in the package accounts for $560 of the price.  This equipment is a one time purchase and need never be purchased again.  However, its cost must be absorbed by the savings to be enjoyed by virtue of owning it.  So how long will it take to absorb $560 worth of framing equipment?

The materials in the package account for $290 of the price.  This material is enough to produce five complete matted, mounted and framed 16”x20” pieces with enough matboard, foamboard and acrylic left over to produce eleven more pieces with the purchase of additional molding.  Since the molding costs fifteen cents an inch, and it requires 85 inches of this molding to produce a 16”x20” frame, the cost of each frame is $12.75.  The matboard, foamboard and acrylic costs $12.25.  So the cost to produce a matted, mounted, glazed and framed 16”x20” is $25.00 (or just 35’ an inch when measuring around the interior recess of the frame).  Because a comparable framed piece bought from a typical frame shop will cost around $100, the savings will be around $75 per frame.

Therefore, it will require only eight 16”x20” frames using the materials included in the package to save $600, thereby absorbing the entire cost of the equipment.  After that, you can enjoy savings of up to 75% over the cost of framing elsewhere.

But how will you know what you’re doing?

The book Mat, Mount and Frame It Yourself, which is included in the package, provides step by step instructions with color photographs to take you through the process and get you over any obstacles you may encounter.

All in all, the Frame Shop in a Box, is possibly the best picture framing value ever offered.
